To lay any fears to rest it seems that the recent police shooting in Kings Cross will see the beginning of comments from various sources confirming just how racist this country is. We here in Australia have at least one commentator who thinks that the public is more concerned about violent indigenous people than “trigger happy police”. Obviously a very timely comment coming, as it were, a day after a national day of remembering exactly what gun toting can lead to.
Despite the police media machine with its fellow travellers rolling into action there may well be some people who are concerned about police use of guns. But there is a little more to it than that. You may wonder just where in any police manual are there instructions that juveniles should be dragged bleeding from a car, punched and dealt with in a cowardly fashion.
Before there is any discussion side tracking the real questions that is the proposition that needs to be addressed. Comments about parental supervision and the like are meant to make the parents look like offenders themselves.
Comments that see the actions only in terms of indigenous attitudes or personality are purely racist and no more. These comments are a blatant attempt to continue what was started in this country several hundred years ago when the Europeans first set foot here and commenced a process of extermination, subjugation and humiliation against the indigenous population of this country. The white supremacist system that was started has never finished despite offerings, all fake, from the white oppressors of the indigenous.
After speeches in support of the indigenous, native title legislative trickery and white national apologies nothing has been done and with the advent of the intervention the racist policies are well and truly set to continue for as long as those that preach it are supported.
